Biographical Information[edit]
Jorge Loyola has pitched for the Peruvian national team.
He debuted in the 2019 Caribbean Baseball Cup, allowing one run in two innings. [1] His next event was the 2024 South American Championship, starting against Chile's Pablo Ossandón. He turned in a solid start, allowing four hits, two walks and three runs (two earned) in six innings while striking out four (his first K was José Hernández). He left with a 2-1 deficit, replaced by Edgar Paredes, but his relievers allowed six runs and seven hits in one inning, a far cry from his performance. His other game, he relieved Denilson Santoyo, against champion Argentina. While Santoyo allowed five hits and four runs in 1/3 IP, Loyola gave up only 2 hits and one run in 5 2/3 IP (5 BB, 5 K). He led the event in IP (2/3 ahead of Keiver Cordero and Sebastián Vega), was 3rd in walks (behind Javier Araya and Marco Castellano) and tied Juan Borras for third in strikeouts. [2]
