Biographical Information

Jorge Loyola has pitched for the Peruvian national team.

He debuted in the 2019 Caribbean Baseball Cup, allowing one run in two innings. His next event was the 2024 South American Championship, starting against Chile's Pablo Ossandón. He turned in a solid start, allowing four hits, two walks and three runs (two earned) in six innings while striking out four (his first K was José Hernández). He left with a 2-1 deficit, replaced by Edgar Paredes, but his relievers allowed six runs and seven hits in one inning, a far cry from his performance. His other game, he relieved Denilson Santoyo, against champion Argentina. While Santoyo allowed five hits and four runs in 1/3 IP, Loyola gave up only 2 hits and one run in 5 2/3 IP (5 BB, 5 K). He led the event in IP (2/3 ahead of Keiver Cordero and Sebastián Vega), was 3rd in walks (behind Javier Araya and Marco Castellano) and tied Juan Borras for third in strikeouts.
