Johnstown is located in western Pennsylvania, 70 miles east of Pittsburgh, PA, on the Conemaugh River. It was an important steel town, known for a history of labor activism and violent strikes, and for devastating floods that occurred in 1889 (the Johnstown Flood), 1936 and 1977.
