Pitcher Fred Katawczik spent four years in the minor leagues, compiling a 13-11 record.
Katawczik debuted in 1967 and pitched for the Dubuque Packers (1-0, 5.00 in 3 games) and Ogden Dodgers (2-2, 2.84 in 23 relief appearances). Jumping to AAA in 1968, he made six starts and one relief appearance for the Indianapolis Indians, going 1-5 with a 3.89 ERA. He pitched for the 1969 Elmira Pioneers, with a 5-2, 2.88 record in 18 games. He was taken by the San Diego Padres from the Cincinnati Reds in the 1969 expansion draft.
Fred split 1970 between the Lodi Padres (4-1, 2 Sv, 3.66 in 23 games) and the Salt Lake City Bees (0-1, 18.00 in 3 games).
