Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Braxton Roxby was signed by the Cincinnati Reds as an undrafted free agent on June 23, 2020, after attending the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, which was not a hotbed of professional talent. He had not pitched particularly well for the small school either, posting an ERA of 11.05 in 11 games in 2018, and 9.68 in 5 games in 2020 before the season was brutally interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. In between those two extremes, he had gone 4-3, 5.59 in 2019 and played one summer in the Cape Cod League.

He made his professional debut in 2021, going 2-2, 2.41 with 5 saves in 25 games for the Dayton Dragons before getting a brief look with the AA Chattanooga Lookouts. He returned to Dayton in 2022, where he went 3-0, 4.84 with 3 saves in 19 games, and was with the Dragons yet again at the start of 2023, when he went 4-4, 2.96 with 4 saves in 37 games. That earned him a second shot at Chattanooga, where his ERA was 7.71 in 4 games, after having been 15.00 in 6 games two years earlier. In 2024, however, he spent a full season with Chattanooga, going 0-4, 5.21 with 3 saves in 39 games. He did show a live arm, however, with 65 strikeouts in 48 1/3 innings, after notching 75 in 59 1/3 the year before.

On January 29, 2025, he was traded to the San Francisco Giants in return for major league reliever Taylor Rogers.
