Biographical Information[edit]

Matt Bimeal played as high as AA then became a scout.

The Toronto Blue Jays took Bimeal in the 35th round of the 1999 amateur draft. He was 1-0 with a 6.02 ERA for the Medicine Hat Blue Jays in 2000 despite 50 K to 13 BB in 43 1/3 IP. He missed 2001 with injury. In '02, he had a 1-1, 9.45 record with a save for Medicine Hat, again despite topping one strikeout per inning. Moving to the Pittsburgh Pirates system, he was an excellent reliever for the 2003 Williamsport Crosscutters (4-2, Sv, 1.91, 1.02 WHIP). He faded again in 2004, split between Williamsport (0-1, 3 Sv, 7.79 in 15 G), the Lynchburg Hillcats (3 R in 8 IP) and Altoona Curve (1-0, 7 H, 5 R in 3 2/3 IP). He finished his playing career 8-4 with 5 saves and a 5.36 ERA in 86 games, with 139 K, 46 walks and 152 hits in 139 1/3 innings.

Bimeal later was a Pirates scout. He signed Robbie Glendinning, Matt Hague and Jordy Mercer.
