Biographical Information[edit]

Christian Pedrol has pitched as high as AAA and for the Brazilian national team.

He was signed by Seattle Mariners scout Ted Heid in May 2017. [1] He was 1-1 that summer for the DSL Mariners, allowing only three hits, no walks and two runs in eight innings while striking out ten. Coming stateside in '18, he pitched two shutout innings for the AZL Mariners. In 2019, he was with the AZL Mariners (4-4, 4.13 in 14 G), West Virginia Power (0-1, 3 R in 6 IP) and Tacoma Rainiers (6 R in 1 1/3 IP). He ended his minor league career 5-6 with a 4.52 ERA in 22 games (10 starts). In 69 23 IP, he allowed 58 hits and 23 walks while striking out 60.

Pedrol signed with Germany's Buchbinder Legionäre; he was of German descent so did not count as a foreign player. [2] He was on Brazil's announced team for the 2020 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers before that was one of the first baseball events canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [3]

He allowed five runs in ten innings for the Legionäre in 2020 and 4 runs in 8 1/3 innings in the postseason. [4] He improved to 6-1 with two saves and a 3.38 ERA in '21, fanning 73 in 53 1/3 IP but walking 32. He was 1-0 with a 1.62 ERA in the postseason. [5] He was 10th in the Bundesliga-1 South in IP (between Tim Stahlmann and Mike Bolsenbroek), 4th in K (between Kaleb Bowman and Ross Vance) and tied for 4th in wins (with Vance and Marcel Giraud). Among pitchers with 30+ IP, he was seventh in ERA (between Victor Cole Jr. and Cerilo Soleana. [6]

The São Paulo native was 8-0 with a 2.12 ERA in '22. He tied for the most starts (13), tied Jared Mortensen and Bowman for the most wins, was 5th in IP (between Jose Mendoza and Bowman), was 5th in K (81, between Dustin Ward and Zac Treece) and 4th in ERA among those with 35+ IP (between Sven Schüller and Yannick Wildenhain). [7] He was even better in the playoffs (2-0, 1.46). [8] He made one appearance for Brazil in the 2022 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. Relieving former major leaguer André Rienzo in the 5th with a 2-0 deficit against Panama, one on and none out, he retired Carlos Sánchez on a sacrifice bunt. Edgar Muñoz flew out but Allen Córdoba singled in the inherited runner then Pedrol walked Rubén Tejada and Jonathan Araúz. Hector Villarroel succeeded him and escaped the jam. [9]

In 2023, he was 3-1 with a 2.81 ERA for Buchbinder. He was 9th in ERA, tied for third in strikeouts (63), tied Nick Miceli for 6th in IP (48) and 5th in K/IP (between Joe Cedano De Leon and Jared Mortensen). [10] He then moved on to play for ASD San Marino in the 2024 Serie A1, going 5-3 with a 3.66 ERA and 60 K in 46 2/3 IP. He got their lone win against Parma in the 2024 Italian Series. [11]
