Biographical Information[edit]

Nick Miceli has played and managed in Germany.

Miceli was 6-1 with a 3.46 ERA at Wesleyan in 2016 while hitting .346/.371/.446 with 24 RBI in 33 games. As a senior, he was 2-2 with a save and a 3.76 ERA while batting .237/.351/.351. He was a player-manager in the German minors in 2018. [1] He moved up to the Bundesliga-1 in 2019 as player-manager of the Bonn Capitals. In the 2019 European Champions Cup, he allowed five hits and three runs (one earned) in 1 1/3 IP but hit .375/.412/.438. [2] He hit .256/.406/.321 in the Bundesliga season. [3]

In 2020, he batted .375/.560/.688 with 15 walks and 15 runs in 14 games. He handled 156 chances error-free, leading Bundesliga-1 north in fielding (Maurice Bendrien was next with 115 chances and no errors. [4] He coached for the Lithuanian national team in the 2021 European Championship Qualifier. [5] He helped Bonn become the first German team to make a European Cup title game in 11 years, at the 2021 European Champions Cup. He saved Sascha Koch's win over Parma, got the win over Mike Groen and the Amsterdam Pirates and closing out Maurice Wilhelm's win over Neptunus. He had a 8.31 ERA, though, while going 2 for 6 on offense. [6] In the Bundesliga regular season, he was 1-0 with a save and a 3.68 ERA while hitting .321/.406/.500. [7]

At the 2022 European Champions Cup, he was the starting left fielder for Bonn, producing at a .357/.526/.643 clip with six runs and five walks in five games. He hit a two-run homer off former AAA hurler Luis Lugo in a one-run win over eventual champion Parma and got the victory in the Bronze Medal Game against ASD San Marino (2 shutout innings; former major leaguer Dovydas Neverauskas got the save) as Bonn became the first German team to take two medals in European Cups, let alone in consecutive years. Miceli tied for second in the event in walks, two behind Stijn van der Meer and tied for 8th in runs. [8]
