Biographical Information[edit]

Kaleb Bowman has been a MVP in Germany.

Bowman was 1-1 with a 3.50 ERA as a freshman at Spartanburg Methodist and 5-4, 4.58 as a sophomore. Transferring to Appalachian State, he went 2-0 with a 4.78 ERA and 46 K in 43 1/3 IP. As a senior, he was 6-2 with four saves and a 3.05 ERA, leading the Sun Belt Conference in ERA. [1] He went to Germany in 2021, going 7-0 with a 1.80 ERA for the Guggenberger Legionäre and then 2-0 with a 4.18 ERA in the postseason. [2] He tied Josh Wyant for the most complete games (3) in the Bundesliga-1 South, was third with 65 IP (after Wyant and Zac Treece), was third with 89 K (after Marcel Giraud and Dustin Ward), tied Mike Bolsenbroek for second in wins (one behind Ward) and led in ERA ([.44 ahead of Bolsenbroek). [3]

The long-haired hurler was even better in '22. He went 8-1 with a 0.81 ERA, .59 WHIP, .127 opponent average and 105 whiffs in 66 2/3 IP then had a 3-0, 0.90 postseason record. [4] He was 6th in innings (between Christian Pedrol and Yannick Wildenhain), led in strikeouts (four ahead of Jared Mortensen), tied Mortensen and Pedrol for the win lead and led in ERA (.44 ahead of Mortensen). [5] He got a brief look late in the year from the Gastonia Honey Hunters in the US, allowing one run in seven innings while fanning ten. He was signed by the Milwaukee Brewers, the third Bundesliga pitching star in the past few years to sign with a MLB team, following Ryan Bollinger (who had been called up to the Yankees) and Markus Solbach (who had reached AAA). Unlike those two, he had not pitched in the US minors before going to Germany. He was named MVP of the southern Bundesliga-1. [6]
