Biographical Information

Héctor Villarroel has pitched in the minors and for the Brazilian national team.

Villarroel was signed by Colorado Rockies scouts Rolando Fernandez, Orlando Medina and Carlos Gomez. He was 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA in 13 games for the 2012 DSL Rockies then had a 2-6, 3.83 for them the next year. He improved to 1-2, 2.22 for the '14 DSL Rockies, walking 31 in 48 2/3 IP but allowing only 28 hits. He gave up 9 runs in 1 2/3 IP for the 2015 Grand Junction Rockies to finish his minor league career at 5-9, 4.03 in 42 games (24 starts).

He was the only Venezuelan native to be on Brazil's team for the 2022 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. He made one appearance, relieving Christian Pedrol in the 5th against Panama with a 3-0 deficit, two outs and the bases loaded. He retired L.J. Jones to end the jam. He retired Jose Ramos, José Caballero and Luis Castillo in the 6th. In the 7th, Edilson Batista succeeded him.
