Biographical Information

Outfielder Rolando Fernandez was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 45th round of the 1990 amateur draft and played three seasons in their organization.

After his playing days, Fernandez was a coach for the AZL Cubs in 1994-1995 [1]. He was then a Colorado Rockies scout, and he is currently the club's Senior Director of International Operations. He has been involved in the signings of Jayson Aquino, Everth Cabrera, Juan Morillo, Ubaldo Jimenez, Jhoulys Chacin, Juan Crousset, Pedro Strop, Esmil Rogers, Juan Nicasio, Héctor Gómez, Leuris Gómez, Juan Gonzalez, Rafael Ortega, Denzel Richardson, Wilfredo Rodríguez, Wilin Rosario and Héctor Villarroel among others.
