Biographical Information

Pitcher Juan Gonzalez has played in the minor leagues since 2007 (through 2014).

He was originally signed by Colorado Rockies scouts Rolando Fernandez, Francisco Cartaya and Carlos Gomez in October 2006 and played in their system through 2013, with occasional success. He was 0-2 with a 3.38 ERA for the DSL Rockies in his pro debut in 2007. In 2008, with the DSL Rockies, he was 5-2 with a 2.30 ERA in 13 starts. During 2009, the righty was with the DSL Rockies (2-2, 1.25 in 4 G) and Casper Rockies (1-6, 7.13). He was 6th in the Pioneer League in losses.

He was 3-8 with a 4.54 ERA for the 2010 Asheville Tourists. He was worse in a return engagement with Asheville in 2011 (1-6, 7.13 ERA, 1.89 WHIP). With the Modesto Nuts in 2012, he was 6-13 with a 6.03 ERA. He led the California League in losses, was 5th in hits allowed (178), was second in runs allowed (109, behind Max Russell) and was 4th in earned runs (90, between Daniel Renken and Ray Hernandez). Among Rockies minor leaguers, only Parker Frazier had more losses (by one) or hits allowed (by 4) and only Rob Scahill allowed more earned runs (by six). He tied Scahill for the most runs surrendered.

In 2013, with the Tulsa Drillers, he went 4-3 with four saves and a 2.14 ERA in 39 relief appearances in a much better season. He only walked 8 in 46 1/3 IP. He made his Venezuelan League debut, going 1-0 with a 5.17 ERA for the 2013-2014 Tiburones de La Guaira but allowing 8 walks and 6 runs in 6 2/3 IP. He was granted free agency following the 2013 campaign and signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers for 2014. He began 2014 with the Chattanooga Lookouts.
