Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Rob Scahill reached the majors with the Colorado Rockies in 2012.
Originally selected by the New York Yankees in the 48th round of the 2008 amateur draft, Scahill opted to remain at Bradley University instead. He was then chosen by the Colorado Rockies in the 8th round of the 2009 amateur draft and, after being signed by scout Mark Germann, made his pro debut that summer with the Tri-City Dust Devils. After going 10-7 with 140 strikeouts for the Modesto Nuts in 2010, he spent the following year with the AA Tulsa Drillers. With Tulsa, he went 12-11 with a 3.92 ERA in 27 appearances, leading the team in wins, starts (26), and strikeouts (104). He began the 2012 campaign with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox and was 9-11 with a 5.68 ERA in 29 starts there. He then earned a September call-up to the majors and made his big league debut on September 11th, facing the San Francisco Giants. He allowed one hit in one scoreless inning of relief work in the game. He ended up making 6 appearances for the Rockies, with no decisions and a 1.04 ERA in 8 2/3 innings.
Rob pitched 23 times for the Rockies in 2013, giving up 40 hits in 33 1/3 innings. He picked up his first career win on September 19th, when he pitched the 15th inning of a 7-6 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. He gave up a hit and a pair of walks that day, but managed to keep the Cards from scoring and he finished the season with a 5.13 ERA. In the minors, he went 4-1, 4.50 in 23 appearances for Colorado Springs.
