Biographical Information

Shao-En Lin has played in the CPBL and for the Taiwanese national team.

Lin represented Taiwan in the 2022 U-18 Baseball World Cup. He was excellent, allowing one hit in seven to beat Mexico and going five scoreless to beat the Netherlands. He was second in ERA (Shiki Kawahara was also at 0, in one more IP), tied Jun-seo Hwang for 5th in K (14) and tied for third in wins. He was named the All-Star starting pitcher as Taiwan took Silver.

The Uni-President Lions selected him in the third round of the 2022 CPBL Draft. Lin soon joined the bullpen as a rookie, and he was selected into the 2023 CPBL All-Star Game. He relieved Ke-Yi Chen in the 3rd inning in Game 1, and he pitched 2 1/3 shutout innings with 3 strikeouts (of Namoh Iyang, Tzu-Hsien Chan and Wei-Chen Wang). Lin ended up 0-2 with a 4.15 ERA in 11 appearances in 2023. In the 2023 CPBL Playoff Series, he relieved Cheng-Feng Chiang in the 9th inning of Game 3. Lin walked Chih-Ping Lin then Hung-Chun Yen hit a single. Center fielder Chieh-Hsien Chen threw out runner Cheng-Fei Lin to helped Lin get his first out in the CPBL postseason; the Lions were swept by the Rakuten Monkeys.

The Taitung native then represented Taiwan in the 2023 Asia Professional Baseball Championship. He relieved Ke-Yi Chen in the 8th inning against Australia and he struck out Alex Skepton and Luke Smith then retired Mitchell Edwards to end this inning; he struck out Briley Knight in the 9th inning and Chun-Wei Chiu succeeded him. Lin then replaced Tzu-Chiang Lee in the 9th inning against Australia in the Bronze Medal game. He struck out Christopher Burke, retired Edwards and fanned Smith to ended his work. Taiwan won Bronze thanks to Tien-Hsin Kuo's walk-off hit, and Lin was the winning pitcher.

Lin made it onto Taiwan's roster for the 2023 Asian Championship. He debuted against Japan, and he pitched 1 1/3 shutout innings with two strikeouts (Ryosuke Aizawa and Kanta Aiba). Lee then relieved Jo-Hsi Hsu in the 6th inning against Japan in the Gold Medal game. He pitched 3 shutout innings, struck out 2 and only allowed a single (to tournament MVP winner Motoki Mukoyama). Taiwan was still beaten by Japan and won Silver.
