Arlington, TX
(Redirected from Arlington, Texas)
Arlington is located in north-eastern Texas, between Fort Worth, TX to the west, and Dallas, TX to the east. The first ballpark there in which the Texas Rangers played was called Arlington Stadium, and had been previously used by the minor-league Dallas-Fort Worth Spurs. The Rangers later occupied Globe Life Park in Arlington, which originally was called the "Ballpark in Arlington", and moved to the similarly named Globe Life Field in 2020.
A sleepy village until World War II, Arlington is now a large city, and its original population growth was largely due to the efforts of long-time mayor Tom Vandergriff, who made it the home of the University of Texas at Arlington, and Six Flags Over Texas, which is a large amusement park that opened in the early 1960s, and was one of the first of its kind, in addition to convincing the Washington Senators to relocate there. The Dallas Cowboys built their new stadium in Arlington, prompting more growth.
