Biographical Information[edit]
A middle infielder for the Chicago Cubs, Steve Macko played 25 games for the team in 1979 and 1980. His career ended tragically when he died from testicular cancer on November 15, 1981 at age 27.
As a child, Macko was a bat boy for the Texas Rangers, and his father, Joe Macko, was a Chicago Cubs coach and the Rangers' clubhouse manager. His uncle, Don Voigt, was a minor league 1B in 1954-1958.
