Biographical Information[edit]

Third baseman Garrett Buechele is the son of Steve Buechele.

Garrett hit .430 as a high school senior. He redshirted in 2008 then starred as a Redshirt freshman in 2009. He hit .353 that season and was named the Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Year, the first Sooner ever to take that honor. As a sophomore, he improved to .371/.452/.645 with 16 home runs, 54 runs and 64 RBI in 62 games through June 14. The third baseman won All-Conference honors. The Texas Rangers chose him in the 18th round of the 2010 amateur draft. He made his pro debut the following summer with the AZL Giants, hitting .308 with a pair of homers before being promoted to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes.
