Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Brandon Tierney was undrafted after graduating from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi - not to be confused with the more prestigious Texas A&M University in College Station, TX, in spite of hitting .341 as a senior. He was originally recruited by the University of Arkansas to play football, but transfered to Iowa Western Community College after one year in order to play baseball, helping the school win the 2012 NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series as the starting shortstop, before going on to Corpus Christi. He played three seasons in the independent leagues.

His first professinal experience was not an enviable one, as he found himself with the Frontier Greys, a road team made up of cast-off players needed to make up the number in the Frontier League in 2015. He hit .290 with 9 homers and 47 RBIs in 93 games. He led the team in runs scored (55), hits (103) and batting average, giving him a chance to play under better circumstances the next year. Indeed, he started the 2016 season with the Kansas City T-Bones of the American Association and after 43 games was traded to the Joplin Blasters, where he played another 44 games. His combined line was .307/.352/.425. In 2017, it was more of the same as he started the season with the Cleburne Railroaders and ended up with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, , with 46 and 45 games respectively. However, he only hit .184 with Cleburne, before finding his stroke again in Fargo, where he batted.265. His extra-base hits and RBIs were almost identical between the two stops however, and he scored a lot more often with Cleburne. The highlight of his professional career came in one of his very last games, on August 31st, when the RedHawks pulled off two triple plays in the same game against the Lincoln Saltdogs. Both times, the play went from 3B Josh Mazzola to 2B Tierney to 1B Trever Adams, in the 1st and 5th innings, in an extremely rare occurence.
