The Kansas City T-Bones were an independent league team based out of Kansas City, Kansas and played in CommunityAmerica Ballpark. They joined the Northern League in 2003 when the Duluth-Superior Dukes moved to town. They shared the same metropolitan area as the American League's Kansas City Royals, who are based in Kansas City, Missouri. The T-Bones qualified for the 2008 playoffs by finishing 4th in the six-team league, and won the Northern League championship, winning six of seven post-season games. After a second-place finish in the eight-team league in 2010, they won the first round of the playoffs and were beaten in the final round.

In October 2010, the T-Bones and three other teams (Fargo-Moorhead, Gary, and Winnipeg) left the Northern League to join the American Association.

In 2021 the team was renamed the Kansas City Monarchs, honoring the Negro League team of the same name.
