Biographical Information[edit]
Kenny Hook played collegiately at Crowder College and Benedictine College. After finishing his college career, he joined the Amarillo Dillas of the independent Texas-Louisiana League and played with them from 1997-2000. Hook's best season was 1999 when he hit .301/.413/.402 and helped the team win the League's championship. He spent the 2001 season as a player/coach for the Rio Grande Valley White Wings, but did not appear in any games. Hook returned to the White Wings in 2002 to complete his playing career. Overall he hit .277/.371/.343 in five independent league seasons.
Hook moved into coaching in 2002 as the assistant head coach for the Maple Woods Community College Centaurs. Albert Pujols had played for the Centaurs in 1999. Hook remained at Maple Woods through 2010. He stayed in the Kansas City, MO area for his next job as bench coach for the Kansas City T-Bones. When 2011 manager Tim Doherty left the T-Bones in early 2012 to coach in the Boston Red Sox organization, Hook took over as manager where he remained through the 2013 season.
The Texas Rangers hired Hook in 2014 as a hitting coach and he was a coach and manager in their minor league system for several years.

Hook left the Rangers organization after the 2019 season and was scheduled to be the Inland Empire 66ers hitting coach in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. He was the hitting coach for the Rocket City Trash Pandas in 2021-2022. Hook moved to the Tampa Bay Rays organization as the hitting coach for the Durham Bulls in 2023. Hook's Bulls offense finished 5th in the International League in batting average (.252), 2nd in slugging percentage (.469), 3rd in OPS (.828), 3rd in runs/game (5.9), and slugged a franchise record 225 home runs. Hook returned to Durham in 2024 in the same role.
