History, Comments, Contributions[edit]

The 2022 Milwaukee Brewers barely missed out on the 2022 Postseason: they finished the season at 86-76, just one game worse than the Philadelphia Phillies, who held the head-to-head tiebreaker after going 3-2 against the Brewers in their season series, and who thus claimed the wild card slot in the National League. One of the major factors in the Brewers missing the postseason by a whisker was the performance of their bullpen: while closer Josh Hader was unbeatable in the first three months of the season, he fell apart in July, and the brewers decided to move, trading him to the San Diego Padres at the trading deadline. In return, they received the Padres' closer, Taylor Rogers, who was going through his own rough patch. Rogers was far from the only culprit, but the Brewers accumulated a whopping 16 blown saves starting on August 1st, and it is clear that even a minimally better performance in those situations would have assured their place in the postseason.
