Biographical Information

Ozzie Timmons was initially drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 44th round of the 1988 Amateur Draft from Brandon High School, but chose to attend college instead. Three years later the Chicago Cubs drafted him in the 5th round of the 1991 Amateur Draft from the University of Tampa. Timmons made a steady ascent through the Cubs' minor league system and made his major league debut on April 26, 1995. He split the following years between the majors and minors, making his last major league appearance with the 2000 Tampa Bay Devil Rays. After a couple of years in the minors, Timmons finished his playing career with the Atlantic City Surf of the independent Atlantic League from 2004-2006.

Timmons returned to the Devil Rays organization as a hitting coach with the Hudson Valley Renegades in 2007 and the Columbus Catfish in 2008. After the latter season he also worked as the Peoria Javelinas hitting coach in the Arizona Fall League. He was a hitting coach for the Montgomery Biscuits in 2009-2015 and Durham Bulls in 2016-2017. During this stretch he also coached hitters for the 2013 Salt River Rafters in the AFL. Timmons gained some international coaching experience in 2016/2017 as hitting coach of the Navegantes del Magallanes in the Venezuelan League.

He became a first base coach with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2018, staying until the end of the 2021 season. In the latter year, he doubled as an assistant hitting coach. In 2022 he was named hitting coach of the Milwaukee Brewers, a position he continued to hold in 2023.
