History, Comments, Contributions[edit]
The 2004 Milwaukee Brewers were a decent team through the first half of the season and were only three games under .500 at the All-Star Break. After the break, however, they went through a devastating second half collapse to finish with a worse record than the 2003 team. Lyle Overbay and Ben Sheets were the two stars of this team. Overbay's batting average hung in the mid to upper .300's for most of the season, and young fireballer Sheets (with a 2.70 ERA) earned his first All-Star Game appearance. Executives for the Brewers were happy with the performance of the 2004 crew because of young talent in the Brewers organization that was primed to come up in 2005 or 2006. The Richie Sexson trade worked wonders for the crew.
