Season Highlights[edit]

The 2007 Colorado Rockies ensured their place in the 2007 Postseason by winning a one-game playoff against the San Diego Padres after both teams had finished tied with a record of 89-73 after 162 games. The Rockies only reached that game by finishing the season on a 13-1 run. The playoff game was played at Coors Field on October 1st and was won by the Rockies in 13 innings, after the Padres had taken an 8-6 lead in the top of the 13th on a two-run home run by Scott Hairston, only to see ace closer Trevor Hoffman blow the game by giving up two doubles, a triple, an intentional walk and a sacrifice fly by Jamey Carroll to score Matt Holliday on a close play at home, giving Colorado a 9-8 victory. It gave the Rockies only the second postseason appearance of their history, the first having come in 1995.
