Rei Martinez has pitched for the Great Britain national team.

Martinez debuted in Britain's top league with the 2009 Bracknell Blazers, going 1 for 4. The teenager was 3-0 with a 1.86 ERA and 30 K in 19 1/3 IP for the 2010 Blazers, going 3 for 16 on offense. In 2011, he was 1-0 with five shutout innings and had two hits in seven at-bats. During 2012, he was 3 for 8 and was 0-1 with 3 unearned runs in 3 2/3 IP. For Bracknell in 2013, he posted a 1-0, 4.08 record with 39 strikeouts in 28 2/3 IP. He hit .447/.488/.632.

The Cuban native hit .448/.563/.862 with 15 RBI in 35 plate appearances in 2014, tying for 8th in Britain in RBI. He was 2-0 with a 3.24 ERA as a pitcher. In 2015, he hit .333/.386/.513 and fell to 1-2, 5.68 on the mound with a 2.11 WHIP. Moving to the Southampton Mustangs, he improved in 2016, going 5-0 with a 3.41 ERA and 64 K in 37 IP. He was 3 for 12 with 3 walks, 5 runs and two RBI. He tied for second in wins and was 4th in strikeouts.

He joined the British national team for the 2016 European Championship. In his debut, he relieved Spencer Kreisberg in the third with a 3-1 deficit against eventual champion the Netherlands. He retired his first batter, Gianison Boekhoudt, but then walked Kalian Sams, gave up a single to Yurendell De Caster and walked both Dashenko Ricardo and Stijn van der Meer. After an error by Brett Rosen to score another run, Randolph Oduber hit a sacrifice fly for a third score of the inning. Martinez retired former major leaguer Roger Bernadina to end the frame. Ben Pearson took over in the 4th. He also got one start in the Euros, facing Sweden. He allowed one run in five on 6 hits and 4 walks, fanning two, before Phil Owen took over with a 1-0 deficit; Britain went on to lose, 9-6, as the offense picked up after Martinez and Bo-William Gilligan left the game.

Martinez pitched twice for Britain in the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. He relieved Nolan Bond with a 5-2 deficit in the bottom of the 8th in the opener against Israel. He retired Scotty Burcham, then hit Mike Meyers. Zach Borenstein hit into an error and Ryan Lavarnway singled to load the bases but Martinez escaped the jam by striking out two former major leaguers, Nate Freiman and Ike Davis. His other outing also came against Israel, in the championship to determine who would go on to the 2017 World Baseball Classic. He relieved Ali Knowles in the bottom of the 5th with a 2-0 deficit and one on. He served up a homer to Lavarnway then retired Freiman and Davis. He walked Cody Decker then got Mitch Glasser on a grounder. He was replaced in the 6th by Bond and Britain went on to a 9-1 loss.

He was rocked (4 H, 5 BB, 5 R in 1 1/3 IP) by the Austrian national team, losing to Tobias Kiefer. He was 0-1 with a 10.80 ERA and 3.90 WHIP for Germany's Berlin Flamingoes in 2020.
