Biographical Information[edit]

Phil Owen pitched for the Kitchener Panthers in the Intercounty Baseball League from 2015-2017, going 3-0 with six saves and a 2.62 ERA. [1] He was on the Great Britain national team in the 2016 European Championship. He had a rocky debut; relieving Rei Martinez in the 6th with a 1-0 deficit against Sweden. He allowed a double to Leo Bäckström, retired Björn Johannessen on a grounder and Emil Sahlin singled to make it 2-0. He then gave up singles to Joel Johnson and Johan Klarberg and Matt Merrifield tripled for a 5-0 lead. Owen was yanked in favor of Spencer Kreisberg, with five hits and four runs in 1/3 IP. His next game was much better; relieving Daniel Cooper with a 14-2 lead in the 4th, he allowed singles to Jordan Thliveris and Andy Orfanakos but struck out Jim Lomis and Theon Bourdaniotis and got Jamie Lekas on a fly. After Britain made it 16-2, he retired Jonathan Kountis, walked Jason Zachos and gave up a hit to Dimitri Kourtis. Max Warren flew out and Thliveris struck out to end the inning. In the 6th, he was relieved by Matthew Maitland. [2]
