Biographical Information

Theon Bourdaniotis has pitched for the Greek national team and in Italy and Germany.

He was 2-1 in 21 innings with two saves and a 6.12 ERA in 2 years combined at American River College and Sacramento City Junior College (2004 and 2006). He underwent elbow surgery after his freshman year at ARC in 2004.

In 2008, he missed 25 games due to transferring from Sacramento State University; he was 2-1 in 25 innings with a 4.15 ERA and 2 saves for California State University, Los Angeles that year. He joined Greece for the 2011 Baseball World Cup, pitching two games and posting the team's second-best ERA at 3.68. In his first outing, he came in relief during a 19-0 loss to the Netherlands. In 1 2/3 innings, he allowed five hits and four runs (one earned) to the eventual Gold Medalists. His other outing was a start against the defending champions, Team USA allowing 7 hits and 3 runs (2 earned) in 5 2/3 IP before being relieved by Pete Sikaras. The lineup he had to face included former major leaguer Brett Carroll as well as prospects A.J. Pollock, Matt Clark, Chad Tracy, Chase d'Arnaud and Tommy Mendonca. The big blow was a 2-run homer by Clark following a Mike Tonis error. He lost 3-0 to Drew Smyly.

He pitched briefly for Montepaschi Grosseto of the 2012 Italian Baseball League, going 1-0 with a 5.40 ERA in 4 games (2 starts) before Louwin Sacramento replaced him. In the 2012 European Championship, he was 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA and 7 walks in 13 innings. He beat Russia then topped France in the 7th/8th place game, giving him 2 of Greece's 3 wins. For 2013, he went on to Germany's Solingen Alligators, going 0-1 with 14 hits and 6 runs (2 earned) in 7 1/3 IP.
