Biographical Information

Mitch Glasser has played in the minors.

Glasser was named after Mitch Williams. He hit .341 as a college freshman in 2009 and .348 as a sophomore, when he made All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. In 2011, he hit .408 and was again All-Conference; his one strikeout in 120 at-bats was the lowest K rate in NCAA Division III. As a senior in 2012, he fell to .325. His hometown Chicago White Sox took him in the 39th round of the 2012 amateur draft; he was the 9th Division III player picked that draft.

He was 1 for 11 with a walk and a double for the 2013 Bristol White Sox for his only experience in the Pale Hose chain. He was 2 for 17 for the Melbourne Monarchs in the 2014-2015 Australian Baseball League. He signed with the independent Joplin Blasters for 2015 and hit .265/.362/.306 as a utility man. He remained with Joplin for 2016 and improved to .314/.411/.417 with 16 steals in 21 tries and 66 runs in 93 games while fielding .985 as their main second baseman. He was 10th in the American Association in average and 5th in OBP (between T.J. Mittelstaedt and Angelo Songco).

He was a late addition to the Israeli national team for the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. He had more of a connection to Israel than most of their players (many of whom had one Jewish parent and little connection to Judaism or Israel), having been there twice and having spent 11 years in a Jewish day school. With three games in the affiliated minors, he was far less experienced than their other infielders, four of whom had played in the majors. He was a defensive sub at third for Cody Decker the first two games, then started at 2B in the finale against Great Britain instead of ex-big leaguer Josh Satin. He was 1 for 4 with a double (off Nolan Bond) in a 9-1 win as Israel won a spot in the 2017 World Baseball Classic, their first World Baseball Classic. He fielded the last out of the game, a grounder by Chris Berset, to seal the deal.

He also coached for the Sioux Falls Canaries and was an assistant coach at Chicago State University.
