Biographical Information[edit]

Nolan Bond has pitched for the Great Britain national team.

Bond allowed one unearned run in 5 1/3 IP as a college freshman. Having been born in Scotland, he was on the British national team in the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. He debuted in the opener against Israel, relieving Vaughan Harris with a 3-2 deficit, two on and one out in the bottom of the 7th, with four former major leaguers due up. He walked Nate Freiman and gave up a run-scoring Ike Davis and a sacrifice fly to Cody Decker to make it 5-2 (which would be the final score). He hit Josh Satin then got Rhett Wiseman on a grounder. Rei Martinez relieved in the 8th. In the finale, also against Israel, he relieved Martinez in the bottom of the 6th with a 4-0 deficit. He allowed one run that frame, on a single to Scotty Burcham and triple to Zach Borenstein, then served up a homer to Decker in the 7th. Greg Hendrix took over in the 8th of what would be a 9-1 defeat. Only Harris and Ali Knowles had a higher ERA for Britain in the tournament.
