Biographical Information[edit]

Rhett Wiseman has played in the minors.

Wiseman set his high school's records for steals (74), home runs (31) and triples (24) and was named Gatorade Player of the Year for Massachusetts in 2012. The Chicago Cubs took him in the 25th round of the 2012 amateur draft. He opted for college instead and hit .289/.360/.438 as a freshman at Vanderbilt, used frequently off the bench. He hit .294/.366/.515 for the Cotuit Kettleers in the Cape Cod League. He tied Austin Davidson for the league lead with 14 doubles, was in the top 10 in runs, RBI and steals and ranked sixth in slugging (between Casey Gillaspie and Kevin Cron).

As a sophomore, he batted .277/.343/.387 as a regular. He hit .308 in the 2014 College World Series and played strong defense as Vanderbilt won the title, winning a spot on the All-Tournament team alongside John Norwood and Brandon Downes. He returned to Cotuit to hit .261/.316/.362 in 21 games. His junior year, his batting line was .317/.415/.566, he scored 70 runs in 71 games and he went deep 15 times. He was second in the Southeastern Conference in runs (6 behind Dansby Swanson), was second in hits (92, 2 behind Swanson), tied for 9th with 19 doubles, tied for 5th in home runs, tied for 4th with 40 walks, was second in total bases (164, 11 shy of Swanson) and made the top 10 in OPS. He did not make the All-SEC outfield as Andrew Benintendi, Andrew Stevenson and Christin Stewart were selected. The Washington Nationals chose him in the third round of the 2015 amateur draft, following Stevenson in round one and Blake Perkins in round two as they went for three outfielders in a row. Justin Bloxom was the scout.

Wiseman hit .248/.307/.376 for the Auburn Doubledays, with 35 RBI in 54 games. He tied Seth Brown and Jan Hernandez for 8th in the New York-Penn League in RBI. With the '16 Hagerstown Suns, he batted .255/.325/.410 with 71 runs and 75 RBI. He tied Sam Hilliard and Ian Sagdal for 8th in the South Atlantic League in runs scored and was 5th in RBI.

He was the starting left fielder for the Israeli national team in the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, going 1 for 10 with a run and a RBI. His lone hit came off Vaughan Harris in the 7th inning of the opener versus Great Britain and he wound up scoring the tying run as Israel rallied to win. They got a spot in the 2017 World Baseball Classic, their first World Baseball Classic.
