Biographical Information[edit]

The son of minor leaguer Mark Gillaspie and brother of big leaguer Conor Gillaspie, first baseman Casey Gillaspie was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays and scout J.D. Elliby in the first round of the 2014 amateur draft with the 20th overall pick. He soon signed and made his pro debut with the Hudson Valley Renegades, hitting .262 with 7 home runs in 71 games. He began the 2015 season with the Bowling Green Hot Rods.

On July 27, 2017, he was traded to the Chicago White Sox in return for major league reliever Dan Jennings.
