Biographical Information

Ka-Ho Sam Leung has pitched for the Hong Kong national team.

He appeared in the 2011 Asian Junior Championship and 2013 East Asian Games. In the 2014 Asian Games, he pitched in all three games for Hong Kong, going 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA though he walked 8 in 4 2/3 IP. He took the defeat against Gold Medal winner South Korea. He was not the only Hong Kong hurler to pitch in all 3 games - Yun-Lin Lai, Yu-Chung Leung and Wing-Sing Li also did so. He next appeared in the 2015 East Asian Baseball Cup. He appeared for the Quad Cities Cardinals, a semipro team in the US, in 2017.

Leung allowed 7 hits, 6 walks, a hit batter, two wild pitches and 11 runs in only 2 2/3 IP in the 2017 Asian Championship, striking out one. He took the loss against the Philippines in a game to determine who would move to the final four. He struck out 3 and allowed two hits in two shutout innings in the 2018 East Asian Baseball Cup. In the 2018 World University Championship, he pitched 6 2/3 shutout innings over two games despite 9 walks; he allowed only two hits and fanned four. He pitched the most innings without allowing a run for the event, despite tying for 3rd in walks (only teammates Wing-Tung Mok and Ching Connor Kwok walked more.

The 23-year-old was very effective in the 2018 Asian Games. In the opener, he got the win over host Indonesia. Relieving Chi-Kam Kenneth Chiu with two on, two outs and a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the 5th, he got Ranjani to ground out. In the 6th, he hit Adi Susanto, who advanced on a passed ball and a grounder by Hakeem Rahniady Putra Ady. Andospa Aldo Saputra hit a sacrifice fly but Leung recovered to fan Diva Reza Fabil. Hong Kong got both runs back in the top of the 7th, then Lai-Him Lam took over; the lead held to give Leung the victory. In his next outing, he again took over for Chiu, this time with a 4-4 tie, one on and two out in the top of the 8th against Thailand. He retired Alexander Clark on a grounder. In the 9th, he struck out the side (Phoomwut Wutthikorn, Naruephol Muangkasem and Joseph Daru), hitting the second batter of the inning (Suratit Faengsup). When Hong Kong scored in the bottom of the 9th, he improved to 2-0. Finally, he wrapped up a loss to Pakistan, relieving Lam with one out, the bases loaded and a 11-2 deficit and giving up a single to Umair Imdad Bhatti that turned it into a mercy rule loss. He got both of Hong Kong's wins in the 2018 Asian Games and tied Lam and Gordon Chun-Ming Chau for the team lead in appearances, while winding up with a 0.00 ERA. He tied Muhammad Usman and Yong-chan Lee for the tourney lead in wins.
