Biographical Information[edit]

Gordon Chun-Ming Chau has played for the Hong Kong national team.

Chau played in the 2009 World Youth Championship (his 18.00 ERA was second on the team behind Wing-Sing Li), 2010 Asian Youth Championship and 2011 Asian Junior Championship. He allowed three hits, a walk and a run in the 2018 East Asian Baseball Cup without retiring a batter. In the 2018 Asian Games, he and Kun-Hin Yeung were the only lefty pitchers on Hong Kong's staff. He made three appearances to tie Lai-Him Lam and Ka-Ho Sam Leung for the team lead but struggled. His first work came against Bronze Medal winner Taiwan. Relieving Chung-Hei Leung with one out in the 3rd, a man on and a 7-0 deficit. He walked Ju-Liang Tai, gave up a RBI double to Han Lin, threw a wild pitch to score Tai and another one to score Lin, walked Chien-Ming Chiang. Hao-Wei Shen singled to left but Chau recovered to retire Tzu-Hsien Chan and Wei-Chih Chen. In the 4th, Chia-Wei Huang tripled and Po-Ting Hsiao singled him home. Chen-Fei Lin flew out, then Tai singled and Han Lin hit a two-run double. Ching Connor Kwok relieved. Against Gold Medal winner South Korea, he replaced Wing-Tung Mok with a 7-2 deficit, two outs and men on the corners. He walked Jae-hwan Kim and got former major leaguer Hyun-soo Kim to hit into a run-scoring force, then Lam relieved. Finally, he pitched against Pakistan. He came in during the 7th with one out and a 7-2 deficit, relieving Li. Ubaid Ullah got a bunt hit, Chau threw a wild pitch and walked Fazal Ur Rehman. Jawad Ali doubled in Ullah, then Muhammad Rafi doubled in Ur Rehman. After an intentional walk to Arsalan Jamashaid, he was relieved by Lam. All inherited runners would score, giving him 5 runs with no one retired for the day. He finished the event with a 67.50 ERA (10 R in 1 1/3 IP); only Adichat Wongvichit and Yusong Lu had higher ERAs but Chau led all pitchers who retired at least two batters.
