Biographical Information[edit]
Doug Gassaway pitched in the minor leagues in 1954-1955 and 1960. He pitched four games for the '54 Hornell Dodgers and six for the '55 Midland Indians (0-2). In 1960, he was 2-4 with a 8.10 ERA and 40 walks in 40 innings for the Tri-City Braves.
Gassaway scouted for the San Francisco Giants (1973), Philadelphia Phillies (1975-1986), Texas Rangers (1987-1992), Chicago Cubs (1993-1995), Tampa Bay Devil Rays (1998-2000), Arizona Diamondbacks (2001-2004) and New York Mets (2004-2011). He signed Brian Bohanon, Travis Buckley, Don Carman, Scott Coolbaugh, Carl Crawford, Monty Fariss, Jeff Frye, Jason Grimsley, Donald Harris, Mike Jackson, Chris James, Ron Jones, Travis Law, Mike Maddux, Robert Manuel, Chuck McElroy, Keith Miller, Jim Morris, Rick Parker, Bruce Ruffin, John Russell, Cedric Shaw, Kyle Spencer and Matt Whiteside.
