Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Travis Law played in the Texas Rangers system from 1988 to 1990. He was originally drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 12th round of the January Regular Phase of the 1985 amateur draft, a couple picks after pitcher Jerry Nielsen, but he opted not to sign. He was next drafted by the eighth round of the 1988 amateur draft by the Rangers - three picks after pitcher Mark Wohlers and ahead of infielder Tim Naehring and pitcher Tim Wakefield - and inked a contract. He was signed by scout Doug Gassaway. Between the Butte Copper Kings and Gastonia Rangers his first pro campaign, Law hit .150/.370/.150 in six games. He hit .262/.353/.312 with 26 stolen bases in 119 games for the Port Charlotte Rangers in 1989 and .198/.295/.258 with nine swipes for Port Charlotte in 1990. Overall, he batted .240/.337/.292 with 43 stolen bases and 88 walks in 183 games.

He died in June 2006 at 39 years old.
