Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Ron Jones was signed for the Philadelphia Phillies as a free agent by scouts Doug Gassaway and Rudy Terrasas on October 20, 1984.

Jones hit .371 for the Clearwater Phillies in 1986 to win the Florida State League batting crown. His major league career was cut short due to knee injuries. After his playing career ended, Jones ran a baseball academy [1] in Texas with former teammate Charlie Hayes. Jones died in 2006 at age 41.

Jones' uncle, Alvin Jones, was a minor league outfielder for the Atlanta Braves 1973-1976.
