The 2012 Hoofdklasse began on April 5 and ended on August 21. Corendon Kinheim swept DOOR Neptunus in the Holland Series to win the title, this was despite changing managers during the playoffs.

One highlight was Rob Cordemans becoming the all-time Hoofdklasse wins leader on July 1, when he won his 151st contest; he surpassed Bart Volkerijk. Cordemans would post a 0.22 ERA, showing he was still going strong, to win the MVP.

In the off-season Sparta/Feyenoord ceased operations.
