2011 Canadian National Team
The 2011 Canadian National Team was the first Team Canada squad to win Gold in a senior-level competition; the 1991 Canadian Junior National Team had won at the junior level 20 years prior. One link between the teams was 2011 third base coach Stubby Clapp, a player on the 1991 squad. The 2011 Canadian squad won the Bronze Medal at the 2011 Baseball World Cup and Gold in the 2011 Pan American Games. The team was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2012.
Key performers in the World Cup were All-Star SS Jonathan Malo, Tim Smith, Cole Armstrong, Andrew Albers and Dustin Molleken. In the Pan American Games, Albers, Jimmy Van Ostrand, Shawn Hill, Molleken, Smith and Shawn Bowman were the stars, with Albers beating Team USA for the Gold.
