Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Jay Johnson was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 25th round of the 2009 amateur draft and then chosen by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 26th round of the 2010 amateur draft but went unsigned by both clubs due to concerns over the health of his left elbow. He was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies prior to the 2011 season and spent that year with the Lakewood BlueClaws, going 1-5 with a 2.94 ERA and 5 saves in 40 outings.
