Introduction[edit]

The 2003 American League Championshgip Series ended with a dramatic Game 7, in which Boston Red Sox manager Grady Little allowed a visibly tiring Pedro Martinez to return to pitch the 8th inning, thereby giving the New York Yankees the chance to tie the game. The series ended on a walk-off home run by Aaron Boone off Tim Wakefield in the 11th inning.
