1995 Korean Series

The 1995 Korean Series was the 13th Korean Series. The OB Bears, winners of the first Korean Series, took their second and last title, beating the Lotte Giants in a 7-game affair.

OB, managed by In-sik Kim, had finished first in the 1995 KBO regular season at 74-47-5. They boasted the KBO MVP, Sang-ho Kim (.272/.335/.474, a league-high 25 HR and 101 RBI) as well as the top 2B, Myung-soo Lee (.290/.357/.394), SS (Min-ho Kim (.288/.353/.378, 47 SB) and DH Hyeong-seok Kim (.270/.318/.418). Jung-soo Shim (.282/.344/.508, 21 HR), Do-hyeong Lee (.290/.333/.481) and Jong-seok Kim (.299/.355/.435) all hit well also. Yong-ho Lee (3-5, 10 Sv, 1.95), Sang-jin Kim (17-7, 2.11) and Myeong-cheol Kwon (15-8, 2.47) were the top pitchers.

For Lotte (guided by Yong-hee Kim), they had gone 68-53-5 to finish third in the regular season, but topped the LG Twins in the playoffs. They only had one player voted the best at his position, OF Jun-ho Jeon (.308/.393/.395, a league-leading 69 steals). Weong-guk Kim (.299/.394/.426, 31 SB), Hae-young Ma (.275/.359/.460, 18 HR, 87 RBI) and Jong-tae Park (.337/.408/.472 in 50 G). Seok-jin Park (5-3, 14 Sv, 1.50) and Jong-seok Yeom (7-7, 2.98) were their best hurlers.

The Series began October 14, with Lotte winning, 4-2, Yeom getting the win, Sang-jin Kim the loss and Sang-hyun Kim a save. The next day, OB evened it with Kwon beating Hyeong-kwang Ju, 2-1. On October 17, the Bears won again, 5-2, Yong-ho Lee beating Sang-hyun Kim. On the 18th, Lotte evened it with a 3-2 win, Kwang-hyun Kim beating Si-jin Kim. On October 20, the Giants moved one win away with a 7-6 win, again going to Kwang-hyun Kim. Shim hit a 3-run homer in a losing effort. On October 21, OB stayed alive, 4-1, with Pil-jung Jin winning and Yeom losing. In Game 7, the first game 7 since the 1984 Korean Series, OB won again, 4-2. Si-jin Kim got the win, Hak-kil Yoon the loss and Kwon a save. Ma homered for the losing side.

The Korean Series MVP was Min-ho Kim, who set a Series record with 12 hits.
