1994 Korean Series

The 1994 Korean Series featured the LG Twins sweeping the Taepyungyang Dolphins for their second Korean Series title in five years (they have not won again through 2012), while the Dolphins made their only appearance in a Korean Series.

The Twins were managed by Kwang-eun Lee and had five of the 11 Golden Glove winners: C Dong-soo Kim (.288/.381/.427), 1B Yong-bin Seo (.318/.371/.420, 30 2B), 2B Jong-ho Park (.260/.366/.391, 21 SB), 3B Dae-hwa Han (.297/.384/.429) and OF Jae-hyun Kim (.289/.376/.495, 21 HR, 21 SB, 80 RBI). Alongside Jae-hyun Kim, they had a second rookie sensation, SS Ji-hyun Yoo (.305/.391/.440, 15 HR, 51 SB, 109 R), the KBO Rookie of the Year. The pitching staff was led by Tae-won Kim (16-5, 2.41), Sang-hoon Lee (18-8, 2.47), Sam-heum Jeong (15-8, 2.95) and Yong-soo Kim (5-5, 30 Sv, 2.56). They had gone 81-45 in the 1994 KBO regular season to finish first.

The Dolphins had finished second in the regular season, going 68-55-3 under Dong-jin Jeong, then swept the Hanwha Eagles in the playoffs. They had two Golden Glove winners: P Myung-won Jeong (4-2, 40 Sv, 1.36) and OF Deok-kyu Yun (.321/.379/.500). Also helping out on offense was Kyung-ki Kim (.277/.367/.494, 23 HR, 70 RBI).

The Series opened on October 18 at Jamsil Baseball Stadium, with the home Twins winning 2-1 in a 11-inning pitching duel. Sun-jin Kim hit the winning homer in the 11th while Yong-soo Kim got the win in relief. In game 2, on October 19, Jeong dazzled as LG shutout the Dolphins, 7-0. After a two-day hiatus, the games moved to Incheon, where LG won 5-4 on the road, coming back after a 4-0 deficit. The next day, LG got all its runs in the first three innings in a 3-2 win, with Sang-hoon Lee getting the win. Yong-soo Kim won his second Korean Series MVP with one win and two saves, becoming the first two-time Series MVP.
