2000 Korean Series

From BR Bullpen

The 2000 Korean Series was the 18th Korean Series but just the third to go a full seven games. The Series featured the Hyundai Unicorns (coming off a 91-40-2 record, best in the Korea Baseball Organization) against the Doosan Bears (76-57). Hyundai was led by catcher Kyung-wan Park (.282/~.422/.615, 95 RBI, a league-leading 40 HR, the MVP of the KBO), 2B Jong-ho Park (the batting champion at .340) and a fine staff of Sun-dong Im (18-4, 3.36), Jin-woo Song (13-2, 3.36), Min-tae Chung (18-6, 3.40) and Soo-kyung Kim (18-8, 3.74). All were in the top 10 in ERA and Im, Kim and Chung tied for the win lead. Doosan was led by Tyrone Woods (.315/.414/.605, 39 HR, 111 RBI) and Dong-joo Kim (.339/.414/.603, 31 HR, 106 RBI). Kim had been the average runner-up while Woods had been second in homers. Jong-soo Shim, a future home run leader, had cracked three game-winning homers in the playoffs to get Doosan into the Series.
