Hak-kil Yoon played in the Olympics, set a record as a pitcher in the Korea Baseball Organization and then became a coach.
Yoon was with South Korea for the 1984 Amateur World Series (1 R in 2 IP, 4 H, 2 K, 0 BB), 1984 Olympics and 1985 Intercontinental Cup (Silver Medal).
Yoon spent his entire professional career with the Lotte Giants. He began in 1986 by going 1-2 with two saves and a 2.76 ERA. In 1987, he went 13-10 with a save and a 2.57 ERA. He improved to 18-10 in 1988, with 3 saves and a 3.15 ERA. That year, he led the KBO in wins.
Yoon was 16-11 with two saves and a 2.70 ERA, with 221 hits in 250 innings in 1989. He fell to 3-12, 4.07 in 1990. He bounced back in '91 to go 17-12 with a 3.25 ERA; he was two wins behind KBO leader Dong-yol Son. In 1992, he was 17-5 with two saves and a 3.61 ERA. He was again two wins shy of the league lead, which this time belonged to Jin-woo Song. That year, Lotte won the Korean Series.
Hak-kil went 12-12 with a 3.01 ERA in 1993, then 4-7 with a 5.35 ERA in 1994. In 1995, he had a 12-8, 3.28 record. He fell to 3-5, 4.58 in 1996 then allowed 6 runs in 3 innings in 1997, going 1-0.
Overall, Yoon was 117-94 with a 3.33 ERA in his 12 seasons in the KBO. He completed 100 of 231 starts, setting the all-time league record for complete games.
After his playing career ended, Yoon coached for Lotte (1999-2002), the Hanwha Eagles (2003), Lotte (2004-2006) and the Woori Heroes (2008). In 2009, he managed the Heroes' farm club, then coached for South Korea in the 2009 Baseball World Cup.
