Biographical Information

Myung-soo Lee was a second baseman in the Korea Baseball Organization for 13 years.

Lee debuted with the OB Bears in 1989, hitting .253/.357/.370. He batted only .188/.282/.259 in 1990 and .196/.292/.309 in 46 games in 1991. In 1992, he hit .253/.325/.366. He had perhaps his best season in 1993, producing at a .283/.367/.398 clip. He had his only appearances on the top 10 leaderboards, finishing 9th in hits (118), 8th in walks (54), tied for 9th in RBI (56, even with Dong-soo Kim and Sang-ho Kim) and tied for first with 8 triples. He was not named the KBO's best second baseman, an honor that went to Ki-woong Kang.

In 1994, the Seoul native fell to .229/.309/.300. He hit .290/.357/.394 in 1995 and was named the league's top second baseman for the only time. In 1996, the veteran hit .281/.363/.354, followed by .276/.340/.409 in 1997 and .315/.379/.474 with a career-high 11 home runs in 1998 (some of the rise in offensive numbers attributable to a rise in hitter-friendly conditions); he moved to the Hyundai Unicorns that year. In 1999, he hit .297/.370/.387. He batted .335/.399/.461 in 236 plate appearances over 2000. In 2001, he hit .248/.366/.307 to end his playing career.

Lee later coached for Hyundai, the Nexen Heroes and Doosan Bears, primarily serving as a hitting coach.
