1994 Caribbean Series

The 1994 Caribbean Series (Serie del Caribe) was the twenty-fourth edition of the second stage of the Caribbean Series. It was held in Puerto la Cruz, Venezuela from February 4 to February 9. The series featured four teams from Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela. The Tigres del Licey of the Dominican League won the series and were managed by Casey Parsons. Licey allowed only 4 earned runs in their first four games and clinched in five straight wins before dropping a meaningless last contest. The Most Valuable Player was Jim Bowie a first baseman with the Tigres del Licey.
The Licey club was led by a starting rotation that went 4-0 with a 1.00 ERA; that group consisted of Pedro Martinez, Pedro Astacio (1-0, 0.00), Julian Tavarez (1-0, 1.23) and Apolinar Garcia. The offense was paced by OF Raul Mondesi (.450, .700 SLG, 6 R, 6 RBI) and Series MVP Jim Bowie (.444, .944 SLG, 11 RBI) at 1B.
Magallanes got fine work from Jim Waring (2-0, 5 H, 0 ER in 13 IP) and Raul Marcano (.364, .500 SLG, 5 R, 5 RBI). San Juan's stars included Jose Alberro (0-0, 0.00 in 6 IP), Tom McCarthy (2-0, 1.29), Carlos Baerga (.391) and Carlos Delgado (.364, .864 SLG, 6 R, 7 RBI). Mexico's few bright spots included Matt Franco (.348, .522 SLG) and Blaise Ilsley (1.29).
