Segra Park in Columbia, SC, is the home of the Columbia Fireflies, the Kansas City Royals' Low-A Carolina League farm team. A game planned around the 2017 solar eclipse drew the house single-game record of 9,629.

After dilapidated Capital City Stadium drove the Capital City Bombers to Greenville, SC, in 2005, talk soon turned to building a new ballpark. It remained talk until Hardball Capital - which owned the Savannah Sand Gnats, Fort Wayne TinCaps, and Chattanooga Lookouts - guaranteed the city a team if it was built. Spirit Communications Park opened in 2016. After buying naming rights, Spirit was sold to Lumos Networks' parent firm. Merged and rebranded in 2018, Segra renamed the ballpark in 2019. It is not to be confused with Segra Stadium, which is the home of the Fayetteville Woodpeckers and has the same name sponsor.

Hardball filled Spirit by moving the Sand Gnats from antiquated Grayson Stadium. It opened to 9,077 fans against Columbia's former team - now the Greenville Drive. The 'Flies broke Columbia's one-season baseball attendance record in just 40 dates, and in 2017 - due largely to Heisman Trophy winner and former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow - broke that in 53 dates. What would become known as "The Tebow Effect" sent the gate up that year - and back down in 2018; he was promoted to the St. Lucie Mets halfway through the 2017 campaign.

The ballpark frequently hosts college games, and one of those probably provided Segra another attendance record. The 9,070 attendance at the March 5th, 2022, game between the Clemson University Tigers and the University of South Carolina Gamecocks just missed the house baseball record but is "believed to be" the largest crowd in the history of the baseball series between the two schools at any venue.[1]
