Biographical Information[edit]
Eduardo Miliani pitched in the minors, Italy, Germany and Spain and for the Spanish national team.
Miliani was signed by Seattle Mariners scout Emilio Carrasquel in 2011. [1] He was 3-3 with a save and a 2.81 ERA for the VSL Mariners that year, then returned to the team in 2012 (0-1, 2 Sv, 4.44), 2013 (2-2, 3 Sv, 5.18) and 2014 (1-2, 2 Sv, 2.79). He played in the Italian minors in 2015. [2] In '16, he was 4-7 with a 4.40 ERA for the Mannheim Tornados in Germany. His 96 K were third in the Bundesliga-1 South (behind Kevin Trisl and Clayton Freimuth) while he tied Hagen Rätz for 5th in losses. He was second to Trisl in IP, was second with 47 walks, was 9th in WHIP (between Tim Stahlmann and Jan Tomek) and allowed the 6th lowest average, .216 (between Stahlmann and Wes Roemer). [3]
Carrying a Spanish passport [4], he was able to pitch for Spain in the 2016 European Championship. He pitched one inning for the second-place team, relieving Jose Cruz in the 9th with a 6-0 lead over Croatia. He got Slobodan Gales on a fly. After Dario Colović singled, RJ Vukovich hit into a double play to end it. [5] He pitched for Castenaso in the Italian minors in 2017. [6] He allowed two runs in 1 2/3 IP for the Tigres de Aragua back in Venezuela that winter.
The right-hander was 8-2 with a 2.03 ERA in the Italian minors in 2018, tying for 5th in wins in Serie A2. [7] He and Castenaso made it to Italy's top league in 2019, going 0-1 with a save and a 5.40 ERA. Back with Spain for the 2019 European Championship, he tossed a scoreless frame against Belgium but allowed six runs in two innings against Italy. He tied Elián Leyva for Spain's highest ERA. [8] Pitching for Spain's Marlins Puerto Cruz, he was 2-0 with two saves and a 2.86 ERA in 2021. [9]
