Biographical Information[edit]

Kevin Trisl has pitched in the Bundesliga-1 and for the German national team.

Trisl debuted in the Bundesliga-1 with the 2011 Haar Disciples, going 1 for 10 with a walk and 3 runs; he had one error in ten chances as a backup 2B/3B. In the 2011 European Junior Championship, he was 0 for 1 for Germany. In 2012, he was 2 for 5 for Haar with a walk, two runs and two RBI and was 1-0 with a 6.30 ERA on the mound. He backed up Lukas Steinlein and Christoph Ziegler at 2B; all three would play for the German national team together, but Trisl and Steinlein would be pitchers by that point (2016). In 2013, Trisl hit .130/.241/.145 and fielded .949, mostly backing up Steinlein at 2B and also playing some outfield. He pitched two innings, allowing no runs. He was 1 for 3 with a walk in 2014 when he began pitching more (3-1, Sv, 6.37, 31 BB, 13 WP in 29 2/3 IP).

By 2015, Trisl was a regular hurler for Haar, going 3-3 with a save, 4.16 ERA and 78 K in 75 2/3 IP while only getting two at-bats (one hit). He was 9th in the southern Bundesliga-1 in ERA, 8th in strikeouts, tied for 6th in walks (31), tied for 7th in WHIP (1.37, even with Tim Stahlmann) and 6th in opponent OPS. He made his German national team debut in the 2016 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. He relieved Jan-Niclas Stöcklin in the 6th against the Czech national team with a 5-1 deficit, one on and two out. He retired Jakub Hajtmar. He got Adam Hajtmar and Matej Hejma in the 7th. After a single by Mike Cervenak, he was relieved by former major leaguer Will Ohman but things went south from there as the bullpen allowed five runs (one charged to Trisl) before getting the third out. For the event, he tied Markus Solbach for the best WHIP on the German staff.

Trisl was 7-5 with a 3.66 ERA in 2016, fanning 103 and walking 23 in 91 innings. He was 10th in ERA (between Justin Erasmus and Michael Torrealba), led in strikeouts (two ahead of Clayton Freimuth), tied Wesley Roemer for 4th in wins, led in IP (one ahead of Eduardo Miliani), was 6th in WHIP (between Clayton Voechting and Dave Rider) and 7th in opponent OPS (589, between Voechting and Miliani). In the 2016 European Championship, he allowed two hits, a walk and a run in three innings while striking out four.
