Carlos Ludeña debuted for the Peruvian national team in the 2023 Pan American Games Qualifier. The big right-hander relieved Edgar Paredes in the 5th with two outs, a 5-0 deficit and one on against champion Panama. He retired Erasmo Caballero on a grounder. He got Jhonny Santos to open the 6th then Adolfo Reina and Jorge Bishop both singled, Reina scoring on Bishop's hit (he had advanced on an error following his own hit). Carlos got Eduardo Thomas Jr. to hit into a force then walked Gertrudis Tello. Renzo Meloni relieved and both runners would score. His other outing, he replaced Ken Ishihara in the 5th, again with two out and one on but this time with a 7-1 deficit, facing Canada. He allowed a Matt Lloyd double then retired Connor Panas. He began the 6th by walking Tristan Pompey. Michael Crouse hit into an error and Wes Darvill walked. Gianpierre Reaño took over and all three inherited runners scored, leaving Carlos with a 16.80 ERA for the event. Only Alex Takano and Ángel Gonzales had higher marks for Peru. [1]
