Biographical Information[edit]
The brother of big leaguer Dalton Pompey, outfielder Tristan Pompey batted .360/.484/.520 for Canada in the 2015 U-18 Baseball World Cup. He was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 31st round of the 2015 amateur draft but did not sign, choosing to go to the University of Kentucky instead. He hit .361 there as a sophomore. In 2018, he was selected by the Miami Marlins in the 3rd round. It was quickly noted that back in 2012, he had expressed on social media his desire to visit Marlins Park a clear indication of foresight on his part!
He began his pro career in 2018 with the GCL Marlins and also played for the Greensboro Grasshoppers of the South Atlantic League and Jupiter Hammerheads of the Florida State League before the end of the year. In 52 games, he hit .299/.408/.397. He then started the 2019 season with Jupiter.
